Ember. Poem by Cheryl McDonnell

Ember.

Your eyes burn me like a spitting fire
I took one look, you looked inside
The blue water healed the burns
Left in line after taking my turn
This song is droning on
Way past the time that's gone
After the embers come the ashes
Slowly fix me from the slashes
