Emerging Butterfly Poem by Carol Fleming Klein

Emerging Butterfly

When I'm with you
It's as if you take
my heart
and cup it in your hands
like a newly emerged butterfly

You hold it
safe and warm
protected
with a touch
that's secure
yet gentle

With knowing
and wonder
my fragile self
opens

to the beckoning breeze
to widening horizons
and exploration.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
As human beings will often do, the one in this poem let me down and proved to be less than the safe haven I had hoped. I was slow in learning that my heavenly Father was the only One I could truly trust with such a task. And He was The One to whom I needed to look for verification on who was safe to trust with myself and my vulnerability.
