End Of The Road Poem by Meng Lim Dr

End Of The Road

The road has ended
in this nowhere of time
no vegetation grows here
dead silence holds me numb-

strewn on the dry ground
are piles of brown fallen leaves
discarded bottles, soiled letters
and torn newspaper pieces-

no inn for food or drink
no place to rest my bleeding feet
not a single birdsong to stir the dreary air
I can hear every throb of my heart-beat-

why, oh why did I choose
this path? to what did I succumb?
suddenly these words flashed across the sky:
do your forget? For love's sake only you come.
