Enemy Poem by Forever Underestimated

Enemy

Rating: 4.5

You look at me
But I can't look back.
I can't look you in the eyes,
Not anymore.
It's funny how things used to be
So different
Back when I was so young;
So blinde.
I couldn't see what you do,
I couldn't see you.
But now I can
And you've lost my trust.
Lost it for good.
And let me just say,
You're the first.
Chance after chance I gave
And you blew them all.
Idiot.
And now I'll never look at you the same way
I did when I was blinde.
Because now I know.
I'll never trust you again.
My first enemy,
And hopefully my last.

This is perhaps your first poem that I came across on this site. You have beautifully expressed your feelings towards a friend on whom you have lost your trust. I believe that a person who hasn't lived up to the trust reposed in him, may not necessarily be considered an enemy, first and last. I have read your short biography. Poetry is for all. It works as a gate valve for giving vent to the pent up feelings one might have, that one cannot share with others. So no big or small poet here. Anybody who can express in words, following certain norms, is a poet. Best wishes and happy writing!
