Enlightenment Poem by Smrithi Padmakumar

Enlightenment

The solace around me hurts!
it is deep-
for it pains!
it pierces my veins,
it takes away my breath!

The souls of evil,
howl around me!
The shadows of destiny
take away my life!

From
behind the hollowness,
the vague gowns,
the dark faces,
a light comes!

It peeps into my heart,
it revives my mind,
it makes me smile!
A drizzle in drought!
And,
so it was!

I took a deep breath,
looked above;
the vast blue sky.
Gazed at
the green charming meadow!
A ray of 'hope'!

Deep inside,
the melancholy fades,
I find the truth!
Enlightenment!
I call it
'a vision! '

'World is
no longer the same! '
Its cruel face
is scary!
The seeds of evil
has sprouted;
sprouted to
gigantic heights!

Smile is
not always the same!
For,
it reflects
the selfish trap;
the dark wishes!

Love is not
always pure!
And,
so are the people!

Open your eyes
into
the plight;
the plight of the world!

Give a boundary
to the word-
'trust! '
For,
the world is no longer
the same!
And,
so are the people!
