Era Vulgaris Poem by Josh Bowden

Era Vulgaris

This is the Common Age
Writ on vellum of human flesh
Of the millions dead,
burnt and dried by the quicklime
of our godless philosophies.

The Imago Dei's been torn
From the dessicated shell;
This highly praised
star-stuff, meat, dirt,
all that remains.

This is what you wanted.
Our heritage will actualize as
Either chains of vice
or a lash to virtue
For generations to come.
