Escarpment Country Poem by Mason Maestro

Escarpment Country

Diminutive thumb, it's human
Don't play dumb, you're human
Debased as Tautavel Man
Deserving more than this

Clean your mess, you're human
Hunt or gather, it's human
Babel Tower a Peking Man
Diaspora reminisce

Step right up folks and join the fun
See the amazing ape with his opposable thumb
You'll be shocked, amazed, even horrified
That so much can be so compromised
Don't miss out, kids, and step right in
Look see, a java man complete with grin

"Little monkeys making funny
Naked monkey scratching tummy
Mighty males are strong and free
Female monkey, not so lucky
Swinging monkeys, funky monkeys
Monkeys sticking other monkeys
Monkeys wrong or monkeys right
Most perplexing monkey plight
Lucy not or Lucy be?
Identified male binary"

Down below the escarpment
They found buried Neanderthal
Homo erectus? Homo habilis?
Binomial to their wherewithal

Large brow ridge, it's human
Cranium remains, they're human
Debased antediluvian man
Demands the same as our status
