Essence Poem by Madelyn Shyba

Essence

Go forth as someone else

And return as yourself.

Lose the excess desires that weigh on you,

And in the end,

Contentment will simply be the absence of appetite,

And in contentment an essence is revealed

Which, though always having been there,

Was buried under longing.
