Even If It's Only For Tonight Poem by Jessica Beal

Even If It's Only For Tonight

Rating: 4.2

We're laying in your truck bed,
Looking at the sky.
You are in your uniform,
That's when I start to cry.

You'll be gone for eighteen months.
For you, I will be strong.
I know I will see you again,
But, God, it's just so long.

You tilt my head up right,
Press your lips next to mine,
You smile at me, and calmly say,
'Eveything is fine.'

You wrap your arms around me,
Pull me in really tight.
I want you to hold me, Dear,
Even if it's only for tonight..

A strong and passionate poem, much like the brave young man you shall miss ever so. Although he is brave, so are you to stand with him in this dangerous journey. May you both find strength and wellness through it.
