Every Immigrant Weeps Poem by John Fenton Mcleish

Every Immigrant Weeps

Oasis in the desert
Million miles from anywhere else
Black swan is the river
In isolation city melts

Scorching days, starry nights
Since I washed upon these shores
From distant ship Fremantle lights
To the glow my spirit pores

Highland memories in my soul
Eventually fade, burn
Cold as ice, black as coal
To know I never will return

Longing for my birthplace
Realize this cannot be
I just chill my fate embrace
In a faraway country
