Gorgas - Exam Week

Let's embark together, you and I
when the dark of night engulfs the sky
like a blanket of stars in a bed of galaxies
Through worn down sidewalks
With stains from the students that
Travel upon them

To the red-brick building
That lights up
Like a valiant display of the yellow shade
From Lightbulbs hung from ceilings

The doors that open with ease
A day to be seized
Time is running out

A man sits
Sipping coffee
His work in front of him
His mind elsewhere
Thinking of love lost
To one of significant importance

A teen stands
Awaiting his coffee
Talking on the phone
A useless conversation
About the strongest Pokémon.

Through double doors that lead underground
Down a never ending hall that loops around
To a corner of everlasting emptiness
Quietness, we must be meticulous

Our studies we value
Hearts ache
Not from loss of love
But from the overload of caffeine

It is quiet
We assume our seats
Stacked in rows on top of each other

We pull out our books
We study
