Rocks have so many connotations
They mean many things it seems
Solid, sturdy, and beautiful
Moist in a gentle flowing stream
Something we can depend on
That we can always lean against
They are out there so visible
They don’t leave us in suspense
Colorful and quite unique they are
As you travel across the land
Some are tiny grains like a pin head
And others are enormous and grand
So much about rocks we can learn
Some are inky and dark from oil
Different layers within our earth
As we dig down into the soil
It’s an endless lesson so amazing
For rocks change wherever they are
But are truly fascinating don’t you think?
One of the most exciting subjects of all!
