On my walks,
Now that you are gone.
I talk to you.
Standing in the middle of our road.
As if you were an explanation point.
With its shadow lengthening in the morning light, then
Asking for directions to a memory
I still have of you.
Like it was a lost child
Who had wandered away
As all memories, of late, seem to do.
It is then I realize that when I speak of you now
It is from the silence of memory.
Your presence the
Starlight from which we are all made,
And return to, when we are no longer
Living between these lives.
But standing in the middle of a dirt road
Reminding us
That all the light that passes thru us
Is nothing but the stardust.
That we leave behind.
