Existence Poem by Chris Hatley

Existence

The glistening petals catch the rising suns light
As it finds it way through the canopy of leaves above.
Piercing the darkness made humid by screams.
Doomed Life so heartlessly placed continues to grow
Despite hate and the death which surrounds it.
Dissolution that latches on and deprives it of life,
Takes what little it has and then moves on.
This fight for life, found so commonly that we pass it by,
Considering it no more, is fought every day.
Continuelly trying to keep what is Vital till both lay dead,
Crippled by their execration, on the bloodied ground beneath.
Silenced from the world, Never to be known again,
Simply covered over by anew, pedals break threw the ruination,
Breeding on the remains.
But still the sun light pierces the canopy of leaves
And allows life to go on despite the torment which
Plagues its roots.
