Eye Candy Poem by Harlan Simantel

Eye Candy

i'm a sucker
for eye-candy

my eye is pulled
by any pretty face
mesmerized
by that beautiful fresh flower
no mar, not a trace

but me, older, average
to her i'm probably another
gawking guy savage

i know cerebrally
that best beauty goes deep
to the soul
is ageless, lasts

but me?
i seem to remain
a visual sucker

i tell myself
enjoy God's flowers
they do fade
but so pretty
in their glory hours
