Eye To Eye Poem by Hans Raj Sharma

Eye To Eye

Rating: 5.0

Standing
Before a mirror
An eye to eye
So much so
Sincere
To the face
Cheeks
Eye-brows
The nails and nose
Lips, hair and eyes
Ears, hands and arms
Legs and thighs
Height, weight and toes
Stomach and waist
Feelings and thoughts
Ascertaining-
Physically all well.

Standing
Before the mirror
An eye to eye
Getting
Mostly tense
And scared
Finding
For the first time
Visible lines
Below the eyes
Slowly increasing
Clusters of wrinkles
Resembling
Crow's feet
And mature skin
Loosing
Its elasticity
As an evidence
Of the aging process.

Standing
Before the mirror
An eye to eye
Unassumingly
Sometimes
Looking so tired
And even older
Than the actual age
Consoling
As a sign of wit
And wisdom
Inevitable with age
Silently genetics
Playing its role.

Standing
Before the mirror
An eye to eye
Finding
Environmental
Exposure
And the choices
Of lifestyle
Having
Yet-
Another impact
As compared to
The pending
Aim and object
Accelerating-
Aging process.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Stages of the aging process have been depicted marvelously. Aging gracefully is in tune with the nature, off course life style also leaves some tale tell marks on it. Nice poem. Thanks for sharing.10 points.
