Eyes Are Right Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Eyes Are Right

Eyes are right

Like engine in a ship; airplane or a car
Move and turn, hands and legs.
Eyes observe, complain, admire
Include, conclude:
“Watch insects.”

Then takes forms with each word
Sad, happy, with wonder:
“To your hands they are none
Compare them, so small.”

Eyes are right
They’re neck-less and black
And have wings, also legs, antennas
And much more.

“Well! You pour in the dish, in plate
To save peas, splits.”

That is what takes place and goes on.

“To them this, is flood
Volcano, Avalanche,
Apocalypse, end of world
To you Noah’s”

In the sun the fix Eyes
Change color, tight-widen with the light
Send message, coded and deciphered.

“Now take notes of the seen and beyond.
Go and write:
‘Though varied from ours, this is life.
Expand it to the leaves and the buds
To fruits and honey, to bear fight
To the sheep, goats and cows
To the sea, fish in it, and sky
Galaxies and stars…’”
