Face Off Poem by arkantos arilius

Face Off

Schooldays were those
when on my way back home,
whistling louder than a siren
was on a speedy run.

Halted was my march
as ships do in winter fog,
2 feet close to me
was a dog.

In fear and in pang
I stood there without any tries,
no soul nearby,
watching me - his two eyes.

science lessons of no use,
how to take him down with my little energy.
Lets try some history
seriously would he listen to words of Gandhiji.
'We humans are more animal
then you dogs could ever be'.
hearing these words of wisdom
he gave nothing but a yawn
for me to see.

A chapter from hindi
came in my mind
kid threw a stick
dog ran behind.
No stone or stick in sight,
phamphlet saved my fright,
rolled it and hurled it up and far away
thanks to the winter gods
swirled and fell b'neath his tail
c'mon I said - atleast make it sway.

I knew in maths
I was stupid,
something common between us,
he said and showed me his cuspid.

In karate I was a starter
but have u ever seen
Bruce lee fight a rotweiller.

All the lessons in
school were of no use,
for problems that life
will profuse.

Wrong was I
when friends to make
is a lesson in life we would carry.
picking him up - gave him a marie
eating it - he too was happy,

and did i forget to mention
that the dog was a puppy.
