Faces Poem by Claude H Oliver II

Faces

Walking in the street, I see faces
Faces that smile, faces that frown
Faces looking up, faces looking down
Sad faces, glad faces
Hairy faces, smooth faces, clean shaven faces
Clean faces, dirty faces
Young faces, faces with the tread marks of age
Children's faces, adult faces
Girls' faces, boys' faces, men and women, too
Covered faces, uncovered faces
Faces of color, faces less colored
Crying faces, laughing faces.

I often wonder who are behind the faces
What stories are behind these faces
Joys and hurts, ups and downs
Disappointments and good times
Struggles and challenges
Gains and losses.

As I tread this planet, I see stories
Number as vast as the seas
Unfathomable as the oceans
Yet common to us all
