Faded Glory Poem by Ibn Ali

Faded Glory

Faded glory
The ambience shines Amber and casts a sunset glow on everything
Your face at most garners garlands of 'I remember him'
And that won't do
You still recall when men proclaimed 'I named my eldest after you'
And women loosened the grip of their lover's hand when you were near
You're never sober when revered
But I bet you're sober now
How does sobriety fit
How does rejection sound
Punctured egos cause a deflated sense of self
Fast food people
You're malnourished no matter how much you gorge, you're poor on health
This star fell and no amount of wishing, wishing wells or wood touching would bring about some help
No jurisdiction for superstition
Now we are, a time will come when we're no more
A house without a welcome isn't whole
It's not paint that makes a house a home
There's more to death than just the soul
And more to life than what we can control
