Fading Dreams Poem by C.F. Wilkins

Fading Dreams

Rating: 5.0

In the quest for fulfillment,
We often tread on streaming beams
Of the lost visions of yesterday
And the hope of fading dreams.

When in a moment of reality
We realize where we actually are,
Will we be satisfied abundantly
Even if we haven't reached our star?

Can the beauty found in simplicity
Replace the fading dreams
Of diminished visions of yesterday
And of stars which have lost their gleam?

Oft' times our dreams of fulfillment
Are ones of futility-
Like seeking shelter from the rain
Under a leafless tree.

But if our quest is for God's Kingdom
And not things that glitter and gleam,
Then we won't be living in hope
Of the vanity of fading dreams.
