Fading Lights Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

Fading Lights

Her hair, a silver thread so fine,
Her eyes, once bright, now softly shine.
A quiet house, a gentle hum,
Where memories fade, and senses numb.

She sits by windows, day by day,
Watching shadows softly play.
A name escapes, a face unclear,
Lost in the mist, so very near.

Her daughter comes, with loving grace,
A smile upon her weary face.
Though work calls loud, and duties bind,
She makes a moment, sweet and kind.

She brings the tea, she smooths the shawl,
Answers whispers, hears the call
Of a mind adrift, a distant shore,
And holds her mother, just once more.

He watches them, his heart an ache,
For the souls he loves, for his loving sake.
One fading fast, a precious bloom,
The other burdened in life's room.

He sees the worry in her gaze,
Through busy, complicated days.
His own fear whispers, soft and low,
For the wife he loves, where will she go?
