Fairy Tales Poem by Shawn Montgomery

Fairy Tales

Rating: 3.5

In my head
I act out each moment of life
As if it was a scene to a movie
And I was the director, producer, and actors
As if I knew exactly how everything
Was going to happen
And how perfect it would be.

In my life
I start scenes as the script was written
As an actor waiting for his next part in the play
But my que never comes
The lines said after mine
Are never what is expected
Never what is anticipated
Never what is wanted

In my imagination
I want to hold a radio
Blaring above my head
Waiting for my love to
Stick her head out the window
Asking what that noise is outside
Although already completely aware
That it is her ex's and her's song
And that she truly does love him
Love me
I want her to run outside
Rain obviously pouring down now
And her to jump and wrap around me
She the boa to a prey
Her lips the predator.

In my future
From these moments
From these scenes
Are now in my past
It is only then that I realize
Its not going to happen
No one knows how to respond
To a sentence crafted by another
Life isn't suppose to follow a script
Life doesn't have to have a happy ending
Life isn't a fairytale
