Faith Poem by Adam Smitherman

Faith

I try to keep my faith.
In this world filled with hate.
Try to keep myself up.
Could this just be my fate?
My soul is not yours to take.
People today are always fake.
Hiding behind there lies.
It's their mask.
Their disguise.

I try to see the good in people.
Maybe it was just a bad start.
Maybe there will be a better sequel.
Try to treat everybody equal.
Maybe this world just isn't the place for a guy like me.
I try to do the right thing.
Turns out I'm just acting insane.

I got a girl.
She's my world.
She's the only reason why I'm still here.
It hurts me deep inside just see her shed tear.
I wipe them away.
Tell her 'I love her' and that 'I'm here to stay.'
But can I promise her forever?
I can hardly keep my faith.
