Fake Life Poem by Vishal Kadrekar

Fake Life

I live in a house full of walls,
All I can manage is a blank stare when loneliness calls.
When I look through my window at the road side mall,
Happiness is on sale to fool us all.
Things I bought from their deck up my hall,
So many things, even my other room looks small.
My heart only sees the emptiness in between the spaces of materials decking up my hall,
All I can manage is a blank stare when loneliness calls.

A bee entered the room from the garden, to continue its ball,
Settling on the plastic flower to suck nectar, to find nothing at all.
It continues its struggle as it wants to continue its ball,
The flower devoid of smell, fake and plastic, fooled the bee, like it did us all.
