In whispers where the wind conversed divine,
And stars were thought as angels' lanterns fine,
A city from the sands did dreamlike rise,
Where oud and spices mingled 'neath the skies.
There lived young Yusuf, heart both storm and clear,
A dervish seeking truth with fervent cheer.
In Sema's dance, he whirled to be as one
With Love that guides the stars and warming sun.
Yet peace, like shyest bird, eluded grasp,
Despite the prayers within his hands' firm clasp.
To Sheikh Ibrahim, Yusuf sought for aid,
'I'm lost within my spirit's endless glade.'
The Sheikh, with eyes as deep as ocean's calm,
Spoke of peace as a stream, a healing balm.
'Not caught but met, ' he said, 'in gentle streams,
Learn surrender's art, beyond your dreams.'
'How can I yield and yet remain unbound? '
Yusuf's plea echoed with a troubled sound.
'Observe, ' the Sheikh proposed, 'the one who knows
The grace of surrender, where true peace flows.'
Through city's heart, Yusuf's quest did lead,
Past domes and markets, to a jasmine's seed.
There Layla stood, a florist's gentle grace,
Her soul in tune with life's embracing pace.
Each day Yusuf watched her dance of life,
With open hands, she faced her worldly strife.
In Layla's simple trust, he found the key,
Surrender's not defeat but to be free.
He learned to dance with life, not to control,
But as a lover's entwined, enthralling stroll.
Back with the dervishes, he spun, let go,
In Divine's rhythm, he found his flow.
Yusuf, the dervish, in the cosmos spun,
A victory of peace, brightly won.
In surrender's dance, a beauty so divine,
A testament to trust, forever enshrined.
