Fall Full Circle Poem by Julie Smith

Fall Full Circle

I didn't fall
I didn't die
I love you, full circle
There's nothing to deny
And you never know until you try

One time fall
I heard the call
To run and to catch up with you
Was all I knew I had to do

Kept the pace
Stayed, but lost you in a haze
Alone but the less lonely with you
You made me stand up after fall number two

The circle closed and I thought I would fall
But instead a jump made me see it all
And right before I could hit the ground
You came back around

Next to the bright sun and the cold blue sky
Was where I came from when I learned to fly
Took a look at the Moon
But had to land back on Earth to see you soon

I learned and worked hard, I ran, jumped and stayed
I never gave up, tried again when I failed
After all this time and with the help of a few
I know now the only reason I will fall is for you

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Doesn't feel good to write this now. It was written in January. I'll try to explain it by a few lines.

After one and a half years it felt like everything made sense now and everything was good. Adding up to something.

This whole circle thing is based on a movie called 'Four in the Red Circle' (I wrote a poem about it, called The Red Circle - and the rest by the biblical symbolism of falling three times.

The line 'You never know until you try' is inspired by an unpublished song by Cruel Youth called 'Riot in my Heart', a great upbeat song.

Paragraph five was written during the cold but sunny days in January which were so beautiful and I miss deeply... It was a GREAT time with so much outlook.

The last paragraph may be a little (or very) naive and silly in retrospective. It outlines my positivity back then.
I thought I wouldn't 'fall' - experience a setback, a repulse, an end of the world time like I did when I started to write these poems last spring.
I saw it coming. You can see that in the last two poems I published. I saw it coming. Now how will I figure this out, how to get out of this much deeper mess...? We will see.

To be continued as I start Chapter III in my poem book...
