Fallen. Poem by PHIL WINTER

Fallen.

Fallen, treated like a dog
By people who once loved you.
Hurt by your betrayal of their trust
They descended in hate
Tearing you to pieces
Scattering your bones unceremoniuously
On unhallowed ground.
You, as king of a nation
Sat stately on your throne
Never once forseeing
Guns at your forehead,
Shattering your being.,
While your loved ones sat impotent,
To wallow and cry.
But, take heed now'
You new deceiver,
Heaven has so decreed
That when your turn is come
You too would fall,
Betrayed and left to die
Like a wounded dog.
