Fallen Leaves As Fading Pieces Of Cloth Poem by Haiqing Hua

Fallen Leaves As Fading Pieces Of Cloth

Fallen leaves as fading pieces of cloth
Oliver Hua, Nov.1st,2018, Toronto

The fine rain meets a later autumn
It is a time fallen leaves turn out as pieces cloth
A time with clouds and mists
A huge time veils cloudy world

Fallen leaves like fading pieces of cloth
They are so wet and thick
They remind me a wet and thick China south
The black roof and white wall in the river south

Fallen leaves like fallen rain drops
It wets our cotton cloth as rain drops
It reminds us the people sit besides the furnace
The evaporation of drying clothes flying on the air

Also flying on the air are the smell of food
Canister bone soup has been stewed so long
Deep-fried dough stick is wrapped inside a fancy rice ball
As well as the sweet soya milk, the vendor is peddling by the corner of street

China south is so wet, heavy, thick anddense
The small street lane is so moist and tender
They are painted on the cloth of history
Along with the evolution of time
They are fading as those fallen leaves

Those fallen leaves like fading pieces of cloth
They mingles with wet raindrops and teardrops
The gliding down on all transparent glasses

The fallen leaves gliding down onto thegey cementious ground
They like fading pieces of canvas
They are so stubborn trying to recover the color of the past in vain

The time has evolved hopelessly out of control
It is a time rolled over by the passing vehicles
Rolled over as a splash of messy mud
