Falling Poem by Emma Atkinson

Falling

Rating: 5.0

I don't know how much longer I can wait.
Sometimes, I think I cannot wait at all.
Love, it's getting late,
And I have started to fall
So fast and hard for you
No one can catch me
Or slow my flight through
This bottomless sea
Of longing
And this growing knowledge that, for me,
There is no belonging
Except wrapped in your arms,
A place safe from fear,
A place free of harm.
So I wait here,
Gazing over a precipice,
The wind beckoning me to step off the edge,
Because this
Is what it feels like to wait for you.
It entices me to jump, to run with fearless abandon
Into uncertainty
Hoping that when my feet find the ground again,
And my eyes find their mark,
You are the one they see.
