when our eyes first met
I would have taken a bet
that you'd turn away
and ruin my whole day
but I was so very wrong
the attraction was so strong
you walked straight up to me
and asked whom I might be
something in your heart led you to me
I couldn't resist trying to find out what it might be
first you said it was the look in my eyes
then later it was something else you realized
my feelings were genuine, you said you could tell
especially after all these years, you'd spent in hell
a man confident, strong and sure of himself
made you take your heart from that old, dusty shelf
allowing your emotions to be revived and caressed
stopping the sadness, longing and stress
we both felt so alive, during our first kiss
so gentle and tender, we knew what we'd missed
today I remember each touch and feeling
still it sends my mind reeling
butterflies in my stomach always come back
while the feeling of love has never went slack
