Falling Into Love Poem by Mohammad Younus

Falling Into Love

Falling into love—
not as simple
as it seems.

Some tiptoe in,
shallow, slow,
unaware it's begun.

Others free-fall,
blind and fast,
heedless of thought,
of consequence.

Some drift instead,
surrendering to the flow.

But who can say
the best way to love?

Love defies art,
escapes all craft.
It is neither acquired
nor imparted.

Love is neither created
nor destroyed;
it is a secret
in the heart of the lover,
the divine essence
seeking itself.

Is this true?

Don't you see?
Love is not ours to master.
Love is God.
