Familiar Strangers Poem by Khemmie Ray

Familiar Strangers

So,
Where did it all go?
The sleepless nights
because of our endless chats,
The loud ringing heartbeats
That pant after one another,
The desire to stay together forever,
The sweet whispers of love,
The caresses and melting touches,
The passionate kisses
That stops time!
Where did it all go?
What we were,
Our hopes for the future,
The glow in your eyes,
The redness on my cheeks,
The rhythm of your laughter
And your heart stopping smile,
Where is that hug?
That tells the story
That we belong together.

Well,
Now all the memories seem to fade
The butterflies are silent
The melodies are sour
Because we finally found
That invisible thin line
Between love and hate
We have become like parallel lines
Never to meet again
We are HISTORY!
And I ponder
Not ceasing to wonder
How friends become strangers
And lovers familiar strangers
Pretending to never have been
Because we flipped the switch
From Love to Hate.
