Fancy I Can Hear Poem by Francis Duggan

Fancy I Can Hear

In fancy I can hear the soft lowing of a cow
In a darkening field by white river Finnow
On a Spring evening just after sundown
In the quiet countryside near Millstreet Town
As the moon rises low in the sky
Above the bog-land the male snipe does fly
Circling his breeding territory flying around
With his wings and tail he makes a drumming sound
The evening air balmy with the mildness of May
Good memories live on as the wise one does say
The sweet scent of grass mowed for silage or hay
Comes wafting to me in the breeze from a place far away
Of such natural beauty a poet would write
A poem for lovers of Nature for to read and recite.
