Far Apart Poem by Daniele Cerasoli

I don't know what's been going on
Because we seem so far apart.
It's like the past eight months haven't happened
And we're right back at the start.

I know that things can really get rough
When you go it alone;
So don't go thinking you've got to be tough
Because you'll just break a bone.

I can't speak to you from my heart
In fear of it being broken;
And I can't tell you how I'm feeling
Because you won't understand the words I've spoken.

I've always tried to be there, it's true,
And I've tried my very best
To listen, relate to, and comfort you,
And help you when you're distressed.

Now I need you more than ever,
But I feel it's you that caused this mess;
So the one time I need you to be there for me,
You, too, are under duress.

We used to be able to talk about these things;
We were always there for one another.
Maybe I could find someone else who could be there for me
But I really don't want any other.
