Far Away Stars.... Poem by RIC BASTASA

for the sake of truth
that harsh truth
i may leave you i may
create said needed distance

on the other hand
is it not that the stars are
beautiful because they
are far? because they are
as silent as the sands in the
desert?

ah, they are beautiful because
they are far away from us
that is not true of their real
nature they being actually
suns, and if we decide to go near
them, surely, surely and very
surely,
all these beautiful stars
in their true nature
shall burn us...
