Far Too Many Poor And Homeless Poem by Francis Duggan

Far Too Many Poor And Homeless

Far too many poor and homeless people in the World today
Without a home to live in or a bed on which to lay
In draughty disused factory doorways trying to sleep hungry at night
Mere survival for them is an uphill fight
Every day for them in life a new challenge to meet
Never an easy day for the homeless of Poverty Street
Without a postal address of any opportunity in life denied
In a World where the gap between the wealthy and the poor keeps growing ever wide
Without a home to live in or a job struggling to cope
For a better future they feel little hope
In a World where the majority of the material wealth is owned by the few
To say poverty is rampant is not saying anything new
And though losing in life anyone does not choose
For one to win big many do have to lose.
