Far Tougher Than You - Poem by Francis Duggan

Doubtless as you say life on you is quite tough
But compared to many you are lucky enough
You have a warm bed to sleep in and enough food for to eat
And for dinner you always have vegetables with fish or meat
That you are not an idler happens to be true
You are a hard working fellow for to give you your due
For your dependants you never fail to provide
That you are a good person of you it cannot be denied
At work for you there never is an easy day
Though no doubt you could do with a good rise in pay
That many have it far easier than you there's no doubt
As you are one who does know what the hard life is about
And though you say life is tough though your best you do
There are many who are doing it far tougher than you.
