Farewell...... Poem by Gordon Cross

Farewell......

Rating: 5.0

Love forever lost in the past,
knowing now never to last.
What was once in my heart,
as it was from the very start.

How to let go & move on,
how to stand firm & be strong.
The light in my Soul now so dim,
wishing that maybe I could win.

Drowning in so many tears,
living for years in so many fears.
There's no future ahead,
loving again & living is what I dread.

Forever saying goodbye,
these thoughts are what makes me cry.
Nothing ever staying the same, just the shame.

Of love lost now too many times,
these are my only crimes.
How to say how sorry I am,
how to stand up & be a man.

With each passing sun life begins to stray,
everything has been undone with each day.
Everything now means so little,
for the heart is so brittle.

Broken & shattered the love given,
never ever truly mattered.

Farewell & goodbye

For it all was just a lie..

Farewell......

This is a craft so beautifully and majestically spoken on paper

The lethal blend of heartbreak, distress, and disappointment which follow the exit of love, is well portrayed in the poem. A well articulated piece of poetry nicely penned from the heart with insight. A lovely poem indeed. Thanks for sharing Gordon. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.

My initial reaction was a light smile to which I can only counter with Meri beaucoup for sometimes the English language can fall short of what the heart feels - I'm not French, just a love lorn Cancerian ;)

This is brutally real. I relate to the dreadful heaviness of it and thank you for penning.

Once again I thank yourself & Chinedu for taking the time to post such praise, annoyingly a lot of the best songs & poems ever written have indeed come from the Authors troubled life..
