Farewell Father Charles Ogada Poem by Alade Abayomi Idris

Farewell Father Charles Ogada

Like the sea, I wish you would flow forever
Ebbing, tiding, and breaking the erstwhile banks.

Like the sun, I wish you would shine forever
Illuminating, brightening, and putting your lights everywhere.

Like the rain, I wish you would continue to fall
Washing away the tears on people's faces
And beautifying them with the colours of your rainbows.

But man is no sea, sun, and the rain
He is a drama with the beginning, climax, and denouement
When drama ends
The audience appreciates the actors.

Thanks for the lights you shine on people's paths
Thanks for the banks that your tide breaks
Thanks for the tears your rain washes away
The colours of your rainbows will continue to be seen in our lives
Now and forever.
