Farewells - Poem by Avalin Locke

The days are winding down to our final farewells
Bittersweet; sour and sweetened
Tears of sorrow will fall down our cheeks
But bright futures will twinkle in our eyes
This will be a finished chapter of our lives
Reread many times
But sadly never relived

We're walking towards the future
But I'm not quite ready yet
I want to stay here
In my safe haven
Rather than be pushed out alone
With no familiar faces to greet me

And maybe later on
When we're all settled and grown
We will meet again
But we've paved lives of our own
We will all be different
But no one ever knows
A little part of our hearts will still be in the past
And it would be like any other day
Before our final farewells
