Fate Of The Moon Poem by Daniel Lee

Fate Of The Moon

When the only thing familiar to you is the distant moon
You see it ever so clearly, but always out of grasp
Shining for the world to see

Am I selfish to not want to share your light with others
Should I accept the fact that I can't have you as a whole
If that's the case then please God,
Please freeze this moment so I can savor it a little bit longer
Just a little bit longer
Don't let the light dim so soon

I have been lying to myself
Who am I to claim you as my own
You were destined to light the world

Your fate is crueler than the rest
Noone staying by your side
While you're up there all alone
You're forgotten
All alone for the longest time

Dear God let me go up there with her
Let me be with her when dawn comes
To give her some of my warmth
Till her time to shine comes forth
