For Those Who Dwell On My Boat Poem by Daniel Lee

For Those Who Dwell On My Boat

You keep saying to yourself
It's just a test, just be strong and still
For love is blind, and the consequence dire
Is it better to be loved or to love?
Consciously, You try to not care
but the pain still grows
the pain is still there
As the tears filled up your eyes
and starts dripping on your hands
The warmth felt like a stinging cold

How did it end like this
You thought to yourself
Staring at the nonexistent reply you covet
For love is blind, and the consequence dire
The cause will be a mystery
haunting you ceaselessly
'Why? ' you muttered
Why now when you have poured your soul
When her smile was smoldered still in your thoughts
When the smell of her hair was infused in your palms

'I must be strong, I must prevail'
But the pain still grows
the pain stayed there
Love will come and love will go
As certain as a rainfall in the desert

'Where else must I hide my poor soul'
She was my Sun and my Moon
Warm at day, soothing at night
Always there, always present
during my wake, during my slumber

'Where must I hide my frail heart'
The answer will be a mystery
haunting you ceaselessly

For those who dwell on this boat
My words might not bring joy nor hope
The damage is dire so we might sink
Let's hold our hands and swim to the shore

For each scar we take will numb our hearts
Preparing us for the next journey
It might be stormy, it might be breezy
As certain as a throw of a dice
