Father Poem by Jon M. Nelson

Father

As he looks down at his precious child’s face,
He’s always there to offer that protective embrace.
He’ll do what he can to ensure they’re raised right,
And always stand as a beacon or a guiding light.

He’ll protect them from harm anyway he’s able,
And do what he can to put food on their table.
There are many things he will be able to teach,
And if he needs to, there’ll be a time to preach.

He’ll always be there to dry away their tears,
And do what he can to help them face their fears.
As he watches them grow, there’s a sense of pride,
And he hopes that in him, they can always confide.

He’ll always listen to their hopes and dreams,
No matter how silly or impossible they may seem.
He’ll always show them the ultimate respect,
And he’ll do what he must to always protect.
