Father Poem by Charles Marsh

Father

Where were you when I needed your help,
You never came around I had to deal with my problems by myself.
Tell me why you were never there,
You almost let my brother drown you did not care.
You want me to accept you back but why should I bother,
You did not come to see me when I needed a father.
I have lived so many years of my life without you,
You don't know half the things that I've been through.
I could never do the things you did,
I could never abondon a kid.
My mother made a good man out of me and my brother,
We grew up right without the aid of a father.
I could never forgive the things that you have done,
It was your actions that made you lose a son.
So take off because I don't want to have a thing to do with you,
My love for you is gone so stay away from me because with you I am through.

We grew up right without the aid of a father. It was your actions that made you lose a son. The bitterness speaks volumes about the way a responsibilities have been thrown off-board in a father-son relationship by the former. A very poignant piece. Thanks.
