Father Speaks Poem by Pasquale DiMeola

Father Speaks

Voice of wisdom muted
From a lifetime so long ago
All that I disputed
Hearkens warm to breezes that blow

Challenging the oceans
Of experience from the past
Drowned in my own notions
Of false ideals flooded aghast

An old man of insight
Wore blue expressions of despair
Pushed me toward the harsh light
Before he vanished in thin air

A product of the genes
Of his and all who came before
Gave me the ways and means
To grasp a truth I once abhorred.
