Faucet Of False Hope Poem by glenn gay

Faucet Of False Hope

You used me like a dishtowel
To wipe your hurt away
And when the hurt didn't hurt anymore
You stuck me back in the drawer

You filled me like a tub
With a faucet of false hope
Washing away your loneliness
With the cleansing of my love
You used me to ease your heart aches
And bandage your sores
Then when you were well
You didn't need me anymore

Once again your heartaches
And you have a new need
So once again you want
To be a friend to me

My heart is not a yo-yo
You can't throw it away and then reel it in
I will always love you
But we cannot be friends
