Fear Of Death Poem by Francis Duggan

Fear Of Death

It is said of death only the fear is to fear
That this is a saying with truth in it seems obviously clear
But one consolation in this we are born to die
A fact of our existence and fact never lie
From death there is nowhere for to hide away
For all of us there is this last night and day
To every human being equality it does bring
Though of it's praises you never hear anyone sing
And since we are born as mortals why otherwise pretend
Our Journey in life for us does have an end
The reaper of lives treats everyone as the same
The paupers and those of great wealth and fame
Every day we wake to see to our last one day more near
And it is only the fear of death that we do fear.
