Feathers Of Grace - Poem by Mariah Ali
Like the mother eagle plucks her old feathers
So shall I pluck mine!
I shall pluck it, a feather after a feather
Even when flesh tearing and blood oozing
Nay! I shall persist!
I shall pluck the feather of fiery for gentleness
I shall pluck the feather of anger for patience
I shall pluck the feather of selfishness for kindness
I shall pluck all feathers preventing me from soaring to eminence
And grow only feathers bright beautiful like the colours of the rainbow
Feathers that illuminate the darkest corner
Feathers of glow
Feathers of Grace
And this I resolve!
