Feeling Like A Man? Poem by Lynn Garman

How do you feel when you push her around?
When she falls to the floor,
And comes up with bruises on her arms,
All over her body.
Do you get happy when you see her cry?
How do you feel when she comes up bleeding from the mouth?
Does it make you feel worthy to have her?
How do you think she feels when she is scared to come home?
Not knowing what is going to happen?
Scared to say or do the wrong thing and get beat.
Do you smile when she has to cover up the cuts and bruises?
Before she goes to work.
Where they know something is going on but are too afraid to say something.
Do you feel like a man?
One day, she will stand up to you.
And fight back and you will lose.
You will be the one falling to the ground.
Coming up from the bottom with bruises and cuts.
Bleeding from numerous places on your body.
And she won't be there to help you.
No one will.
Will you feel like a man then?
